Come into the Light

A week ago, at the end of a counseling session, a beautiful young girl asked me to draw her something that reminded me of her.

I did not know how long she might be in juvenile hall (where I counsel youth), so I  gave her a small print of something I drew a long time ago along with the haiku that surfaced as I drove home that day.

The personalized haiku:

look within your Heart

find the girl who wants to live

let her grow and thrive

However, beginning the next day I started the drawing below that I think her question inspired, and I worked on it through the week.  I started with pencil, added watercolor and ink and then a little more in Photoshop.

I am including photos of a few days of the work in process.

I finished it on Friday.

Why are you hiding,

trembling in fear of your Life?

Come into the Light!

It seems fitting to include the process photos in the final image, as we are all a work in process which includes facing the various things we fear in our lives.

God bless you and may you come out of the shadows to walk and grow in the Light in all ways.  Come deeper into the Light.  🙂

always follow your heart in all ways
